Return-to-Office with Hybrid Teams
Overview:
The emerging workplace, post-COVID, is a significant event, not to be minimized. The workplace will certainly be different regardless of your industry or location. For many managers, leaders, and employees the Return-to-Office scenario will be filled with both challenges and opportunities. Those organizations who prepare for this eventuality are the ones who will come out ahead.
Managers and leaders are familiar with traits and skill sets that have always been deemed important in the workplace. Examples of these include empathy, clarity, and agility, to name a few. However, the conditions surrounding how these skill sets are applied will be vastly different than before the pandemic. In execution, the familiar will actually feel unfamiliar. Employees, too, must understand the challenges these new conditions may present.
This transition is an opportunity to invite input, insight, and innovation to reimagine the world of work. Reactions to this new world will be as varied as the workforce itself.
In September’s Capital Area IT Council’s Women in Technology Peer group meeting, we’ll address two tracks of challenges and opportunities…Capabilities and Leadership. Group discussion and shared activities will serve to demonstrate the new application of “familiar” skill sets along with the vital emergence of less familiar ways of interacting in the new world of work.

Joanne Cumiskey is an award-winning leader, professional speaker, certified trainer, facilitator, and savvy business consultant. She owns and operates Vision Quest Leadership, a consultancy firm providing training, professional development, and coaching services to clients nationwide. Two divisions, Business Builders and Nonprofit Builders, serve small business owners and nonprofit leaders in Southwest Florida. In all three endeavors, she develops transformational leaders to leave a legacy of success through social impact.
Joanne is proud of her track record of achievement which includes numerous awards: Manager of the Year, Regional Manager of the Year, Chapter Member of the Year (twice), Teacher of the Year, and most recently, Business of the Year. She is the past-president of the National Speakers Association of Michigan and has enjoyed both memberships and board positions with local Chambers, the American Business Women’s Association, and the Association for Talent Development.
Joanne graduated cum laude from Michigan State University and has multiple certifications in several industry specialties.
